Launch time
climate fiction page turner
A great evening at The Plough Inn, Northfields Avenue in Ealing to launch my second novel, The River Brings the Sea. So many friends and family from all over the country and from all the different areas of my life: authors and poets, university, teaching, yoga, volunteer gardening and Buddhism. My three wonderful children set everything up and sold the books. Even my ex and his new partner were there. The Christmas decorations added to the feeling of celebration and we sold half the books we’d brought. I’ve already had feedback from two people that they’ve read and enjoyed the novel.
One gardening friend said:
I finished your book and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It’s a very good read.
Another artist friend said:
It’s a gripping thriller…a thoughtful balance of how relationships in times of extremism, can pull and push emotions as individuals face their fears with courage and love.
If you’d like to buy it (a great Christmas present) here are the links:
Lastly, I thought I’d join in, belatedly, with my memories of the late Tom Stoppard: it was sometime in the early to mid 1980s when we saw one of my favourite films, Ghostbusters with the great man himself. What, I hear you saying, I don’t believe you. Surely not. One of twentieth century’s greatest playwrights would never sink to spending an evening watching the latest blockbuster. And with you! But I kid you not. Well I do. We hadn’t actually gone together, but had just taken our seats to see the said film when in he walked, with his wife, Dr Miriam Stoppard. So, as I said, I did watch Ghostbusters with Tom Stoppard. In a sense.

Thank you for reading my very happy Substack post this week. Have a great week!
